Well, today I didn't enter here to this beautiful world to talk about facebook, but about what I found out from facebook today - women's day. Facebook is saying today is international women's day.
Looks like everybody is enjoying women's day. I think men are celebrating more than women.
Men are posting smiling pictures of their near and dear women like mom, sister, wife, girlfriend/girlfriends, ex-girlfriends, girls who are friends etc. And girls are posting their over makeup super close up selfie to show something special is happening this day.
Well, many things are happening in this world. I am not a global expert, so I shall restrict this discussion to India only.
At this moment some pregnant lady is doing her ultrasonography to know whether the tiny little heart which is bitting in her womb belongs to a boy/girl. Even though its illegal in India to detect the gender of a new coming baby before he/she come out from mother's womb you give some money and you know what it is. In the next moment, some serious discussion will be done to decide whether the life will continue or not. If boy definitely he will continue his journey. But if girl? Well, the meeting will continue. Happy women's day!!!
At this moment some very lucky girl is taking birth in India. And at the same time, a tree is planted or some amount of gold is deposited in the bank. What a good news !!! Wait, its not to celebrate the birth. The unlucky parents have burden of her marriage just after 20-25 years. Her parents invested money as tree or gold. This grown-up tree will help her to get the cost of her marriage. To fulfill her dowry. Happy women's day.
At his eventful moment somewhere some girl is having her best moment in her life. She is getting married. And the priest is chanting the "mantra". There is almost no role of the girl during the marriage ceremony. Either the girl's father will say he is donating his daughter to the boy, or the boy is saying he will take care of the girl. And the girl have only one mantra to say "From today I leave my father's identity and take my husband's identity". She will move from her parent's home to husband's home. She is homeless !!! Happy women's day.
Somewhere in India at this moment two boys are quarreling with each other. One of them is coward. He is getting abused by saying "Are you wearing 'Chudi' in your hand?" Happy women's day.
Somewhere in the facebook some big celebrity and so-called progressive person like Amitav Bacchan will post in twiter that women are "our" prestigious "Property" to describe Aiswarya rai, who is more successful than him. Women are our property !!! Happy women's day !!!
Somewhere some so open-minded Yogeswar Dutt will take "only" 1 rupee dowry to show how he respects women. And nobody will say even understand that it is not the question of how much money you took as dowry it is the question did you took or not. We are so habituated with it that even we lost our sensitivity. Happy women's day !!!
As always, I am an optimistic person and I saw things are changing in India even it slow - very slow. We need a women's world not a women's day.
